Hey everyone! Thank you for coming to my Personal Page!
Family, Friends, Peers, Teachers, Professors, Colleagues, and everyone who hates cancer!
Thank you for visiting and welcome to my fundraising page!
Hello everyone, welcome to my fundraising page! Thanks for taking the time to check it out. It really means a lot to me! To give a quick summary of what this is all about, I am fundraising for BuckeyeThon, the largest student-run philanthropy in Ohio. BuckeyeThon raises millions of dollars all for the purpose of ending childhood cancer, and takes place every year with thousands of team member volunteers. This year, I am one of those team members trying to raise as much as I possibly can "For The Kids" and I would greatly appreciate it if you could please take 1 minute to donate to my page today. Thank you so much, every dollar makes a huge difference in the life of a child.
If you're interested in a bit more about who I am, why I'm doing this, and what BuckeyeThon is, feel free to read on!
Who am I and why am I doing this?
If you don’t know me, my name is Ryan Elaoud and I’m a first-year Biomedical Science major, Eminence Fellow, and Stamps Scholar at The Ohio State University. In my free time, I love playing competitive tennis, hanging out with my friends, and exploring everything that this massive, beautiful, and amazing campus has to offer. In just the few short weeks that I’ve spent at OSU, I’ve already become involved in a Columbus-area tutoring program called ClassMates, a medical and general health-based volunteering student organization called ENCompass, the Club Tennis 1st Travel Team (Go Bucks!), and I am looking to join a research laboratory within my second semester.
I tell you all this to show you just how much is possible in only about 2 months spent at one of the biggest research universities in the world. The sad fact is that there are many, many children who will never get to experience any of this due to childhood cancer. They won’t get to experience the football games. They won’t get to experience the campus. They won’t get to experience the classes, professors, research, opportunities, friends, memories, or anything else that comes with being a Buckeye. Because of this, I have decided to join the BuckeyeThon effort to raise as much money as possible for the kids, so that we may one day end childhood cancer.
A bit more about BuckeyeThon
BuckeyeThon is the largest student-run philanthropy in the state of Ohio. With the ultimate goal of ending childhood cancer, we work to raise funds and awareness for the Hematology/Oncology and Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Department of Columbus’s very own Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Nationwide Children’s treats all children—regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Last year, almost 5,000 passionate Ohio State students and the larger Buckeye community came together to raise over $2.2 million! Each year, this massive fundraising effort culminates in the Dance Marathon—a non-stop 24-hour celebration full of hope and fun for the BuckeyeThon kids, families, and supporters. This year, BuckeyeThon’s 21st Dance Marathon will take place this weekend (Nov. 6-7) and you’ll be able to find me there with the Biomedical Science Major team!
This year as a first-year, I have pledged to be a “Miracle Maker” and raise at least $1,000. I’m doing this because despite having only been on campus for a relatively short time, I firmly believe and am willing to fight for the central idea of BuckeyeThon—that Every Kid Deserves to be a Buckeye. The money raised goes to a wide variety of initiatives to help the kids, such as Art Therapy, Chemotherapy treatments, cancer research, and even tutoring sessions with teachers. Your donation goes far beyond to help the kids succeed in all aspects of life!
Please donate to my personal fundraising page by clicking the “Donate” button to the right. If you are unable to donate this year, I completely understand; I just ask that you keep the Ohio State community in your thoughts as we continue to work to change the world.
Regardless of your ability to donate, I ask that and strongly encourage you to forward this page on to friends and family members of your own so that together we can fight for the kids who cannot fight for themselves.
I sincerely thank you for your willingness and desire to help me in my fundraising efforts, and I hope you feel just as connected to this cause and movement as I do!
